This is a unique piece for those who like their jewellery with bags of personality. This pendant captures the characteristic Ginkgo leaf shape and delicate tracery of the veins on the leaf. I have coloured this copper leaf using a flame to add variation and depth to the colour making each and every leaf unique and colour can vary from shiny natural copper to a blush orange red.

I make each leaf painstakingly by hand, using a real leaf as the basis for each piece. I use clay based copper an unusual and versatile material. I use the clay to press the leaf into it, capturing all its beautiful detail. I then burn the leaf off in a kiln at 873 degrees for 3 hours! This transforms the copper clay into pure copper metal in the exact copy of the leaf. Its a bit like magic! This copper acts like any other copper at this stage. So I use a flame to bring a unique colouring to the piece. I then spray with lacquer to prevent it changing colour or turning your skin green! No two pieces will ever be the same. I have shown a couple of examples in the photos.

This Ginkgo leaf measures approximately 1.5cm by 3cm. You can choose a 16 or18 inch fine rose filled gold trace chain for your lovely Ginkgo leaf at checkout.

Rose gold filled has a solid layer of gold (14k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The rose colour is obtained by alloying gold with copper. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold. I can not guarantee this chain is hypo-allergenic, although after much wear testing I have not reacted to it.
